How long do you plan on staying in your house?
If you aren’t in your forever house but have plans on being there for quite some time, it might make sense to do a roof replacement. When it is time to sell the house, you might find it difficult to sell if the roof isn’t up to date, depending upon the condition and life of the roof.
If you’re going to be staying in your house and the roof has already had multiple repairs, or it is between 15 to 20 years of age, having a roof inspection is a good idea. They can help determine if there’s anything that requires immediate attention. If everything appears fine, it’s suggested to get on a routine maintenance plan in which a professional gets up on the roof to assess everything at least one time per year. It’ll ensure you get the full life out of the roof.
If it’s your plan to sell your house at some point in the future and the roof looks bad or is displaying signs of damage, you will have a difficult time selling it. If that’s the case, new roof installation might be your best bet. When you place it on the market, your new roof’s curb appeal will help you sell your home. Upon selling, you will receive a return of 68 percent of the roof replacement cost.
Roof Repair | Roof Replacement New Port Richey Fl.
Doing a roof repair can give your roof a few more years of life if it isn’t too far gone. However, there comes a time in the life of every home or business that you will find yourself in need of a new roof. While most people don’t pay a lot of attention to their roofs, it is important that every homeowner takes a little time once or twice a year to do a quick inspection to make sure the roof is still in good shape. If you see any of these signs, it might be time to replace your roof.
An Aging Roof
This isn’t always a sign we can see. Most good roofs can last up to twenty years, some a couple years more. If your current roof is 20 years old, it’s definitely time to have a local roofing contractor in New Port Richey, FL. come and inspect it. Even if you don’t see visible damage, it’s best that you get it inspected by roofing professionals to ensure that you don’t miss something that could lead to damage to your roof’s underlying structure or your home’s interior.
Damaged Shingles or Tiles
There are all kinds of ways your roof can show signs of damage. The most common roofing materials— shingles or tiles—often shows signs of wear and tear in the form of curling, buckling or cracking. You can also inspect the gutters around the home for excessive granules that have fallen off shingles, another sign that shingles are wearing thin. Look to see if any shingles are blown off or missing also.
Leaking or Sagging Roof
As your roof and the structure that supports it begin to age, it can start to sag or leak over time. Often times you will be able to detect a sagging roof from the outside, if not, you can check from the inside in the attic. The attic is a good place to check for telltale signs of leaks, including dark streaks on the wood, rotting wood, dripping water, mold growth, or visible light that comes through the roof boards. If you see any of these signs, call our New Port Richey roofing company to come out and have a look. The sooner you spot something the better, as a repair is always cheaper than having to replace the whole roof if gone too long.
